So, here was my dilemma:My son is 6'7" tall. I am 5'9". I was re-doing my shower, and I decided to install a curved shower rod. I thought I was being smart, as I knew that standard shower curtains are 72 inches long. I hung the shower rod
at 71"
figuring that the hooks were 3 1/2", and everything would be great.
There were three errors I made in this. The first was that my son never remembers to bend down and always would think of my shortcomings as a shower curtain rod installer. The second was that the curved shower rod lifted the curtain in the middle causing the floor to flood. The third was that with the exception of the occasional previously clean towel thrown on the floor, thinking anyone other than myself was going to clean this up turned out to be so wrong.
The fix for all of this came down to the following options: Raise the shower rod, (which I did) eliminating the head bumps, but causing more clean-up. Raise the dam, and be forever tripping over it, as we had all become used to its height. Buy "custom" shower curtains which are well over $ 100.00 each. Somehow I hit on a fourth option, and bought some designer brushed nickel chain. A week later it was rusty. I could not find any light duty stainless chain, and rope/string looked tacky. I figured I was not the first person to encounter this, and so I started investigating. It did not take long to find out there was no existing solution.
After much trial and error, I devised a solution, crafted out of stainless steel wire, aluminum crimp rings, and stainless steel "S" hooks. I can provide cables in 4", 6",8", 12" and 18" black or silver wire. The "S" hooks are only stainless, currently a light stainless 3/4" hook. Please specify color and cable length (the length will be approximately 1" longer when you add the "S" hooks) in the comments when you pay.
Don't make me look in additional e-mails. If not specified, 8" silver wires will be sent. Curtain rod hooks with rollers pictured, are not included.
Good Luck, and Good Bidding!
It takes a long time to make 12 cables. All the ingredients are relatively expensive. The results are well worth it. I recommend getting shower curtain hooks with
rollers. Save the packaging, I had two different sets of hooks rust in less than 3 months. The ones from Target have lasted me the longest. They were 8.99 a set of 12. If you need me to get you a set of them, let me know before you pay. Thanks!
