    Description

ANTIQUE VICTORIAN PERIOD CORDOVAN LEATHER LACE UP BOOTS EU37
Up on the auction block is a beautiful nicely worn in Antique Victorian Period Cordovan Leather Lace Up Boots in the size EU37 Narrow (which is about a US 6 ½ Narrow). The numbers inside the shafts read as follows:
    37—1 56013
    and beneath this is
    133
. Also embossed at the top right boot is “THE B. B. BAKER CO.”. The leather uppers are in fairly good condition for being over 100 years old, soft, supple, and a little on the thick side. There are some nicks on the heels and wearing on the toe tips. The leather shafts are very creased due to a lot of use. All the external seam work looks to be intact.
The inside cotton twill lining is very darkened with stains and quite fragile and thin. The lining in the left boot has holes and split at the top calf seam. The seam work in the right boot appears solid. The leather insoles are in great condition and there are felt/wool heel pads on both insoles. The leather banding across the high tops and along the eyelets is in very good condition. However, the seam work on the left boot high top has come loose. There are 19 pairs of external eyelets to lace up. The leather tongues are in excellent shape for the age and have full cloth backing that is very worn with wear-through in places.
The bottom leather soles are quite worn with most of the over sole present. New leather tips were put on. Very unfortunately, the wooden French Spool heels show damage at the bottom areas. Due perhaps when the new rubber heel pads were put on. If you plan to wear these, the bottom layers of wood would require some repair work. Epoxy well applied would work nicely, otherwise these would make and excellent pair for display and décor.
