The 3 1/8" x 273' thermal receipt paper roll is the maximum length POS (point-of-sale) printer paper roll size for cost-conscious buyers using 3 1/8" x 230'. Thermal paper is made with a special heat-sensitive coating using a leuco dye that allows for non-impact print without the need for a printer ribbon. When heat (from a thermal paper printer) is applied to the coating, the result is a sharp black image.
