    Take time to measure your post not all 4x4 post are the same dimension. These black fence post caps are for a standard 4X4 wood fence post (3.5"x3.5") this cap measures 3 5/8"x 3 5/8.
    The hole is 1/8” or 0.125” so a 6D or 11 gauge nail 2 inches long should be fine.
